ORGANISERS of the annual Kwekwe Open Karate Championships have proposed to have the 2024 edition held on July 27 and 28 at Queens Sports Club.

The tournament organised by Sensei Shepherd Ziwira, will be marking its 14th anniversary and will see several top karatekas taking part.  Ziwira said they felt honoured to be hosting another top karate tournament after an exciting one last year.

“We are pleased and honoured to announce that the annual Kwekwe National Invitational Karate Championships 2024 dates are set for July 27 and 28 at Queens Sports Club.

“The tournament is expected to run for two days after it has proved to be too big an event to be staged in one day. First day will be for kids and under 21 athletes, and the second day for seniors.

“We are committed to make this event a successful one through adherence to the highest standards of preparations in order to create an ideal atmosphere for all participating teams and individuals.

“We have already proposed a date for this year’s edition and we will as usual have some trophies, medals and certificates for the winners, also t-shirts will be given to those who register two weeks before the tournament day,” said Ziwira.

The tournament, dubbed “Best of the Best,” is hosted by Ziwira, who is the Japan Karate Association of Zimbabwe chief instructor and Midlands Karate Union Chief referee.
