Top Zimbabwean karateka, Pumulani Maphosa, said he is back and ready to return to the ring.

Maphosa was involved in a car accident in 2021 and sustained career threatening injuries.

He told H-Metro that despite going through a difficult patch, he is determined to fight his way back to the top.

“It’s been hard going through ups and downs, but I am happy to be back,” said Maphosa.

“Most of my supporters and fans were worried and some were eager to know if I would return to the ring or quit.

“I am happy to tell them that I am back and even more vicious than before. Everyone should expect more from me, as I am training more than I sleep.

“From my childhood, I thought karate was just a sport, but I have learnt that it’s more than that. It’s a family. Fellow karatekas supported me and checked on me from the time of the accident until I got back on my feet.”
