Kariba Hospital staffer trampled to death by elephant

A Kariba District Hospital employee, Gloria Konde, was trampled to death by an elephant while on her way to church on Sunday.

The incident highlights cases of human-wildlife conflicts being recorded in the resort town.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) provincial spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, confirmed the incident.

The victim was on her way to the Anglican Church together with her child and grandchild when the incident occurred.

Both her daughter and grandchild survived the attack. Recently, a female tourist who was camping at a local lodge with her family was attacked by a hippo while on her way to relieve herself. She sustained leg injuries.
