Karoi seeks to collect $2m by Dec 31

KAROI Town Council hopes to have collected more than $2 million by December 31 from the $6 million it had budgeted for. The local authority had by August this year managed to collect 19 percent of this year’s budget, which translates to $1 172 100. In an interview, Karoi Town Council chairperson Mr Richard Ziki said the local authority expected to collect 34 percent of the budget by December.

“We expect to have collected 34 percent by the end of this year, which means we should have collected about $2 121 931 by December,” he said.

Mr Ziki said the local authority had proposed a $6 031 402 budget for year 2018 with $6 0227 938 expected to cover expenditure. He also indicated that they had proposed various strategies to improve revenue collection next year.
