KAROI UNITED chairman Kenson Kumponda has warned Bindura United to brace for a tough encounter in a World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league tie tomorrow at Chipadze. Bindura United suffered a 0-4 defeat at the hands of ZRP Morris last week. “At the moment no team is stronger than the other because we are equal, that’s why we are all in Division One,” said Kumponda.
“Mushowani was rated as a big team, they were called the best and unstoppable but we beat them. We were the first to beat them so it’s possible to beat Bindura.
“They are just like any other team and we are going there to win.”
Karoi have acquired the services of five new players — two goalkeepers, Roy Chakanyuka and Clemence Musendami, midfielders Blessing Chirwa and Nickson Kondo and rightback Innocent Mabhandi.
“So far we have also retained everyone except for Danai Zokoto who left the team a while ago. We don’t know his whereabouts,” said Kamponda.
“The league is so competitive, teams are always changing and sometimes you find they are not moving that much in terms of positions.
“If we fail to get the championship we want to finish in the top four. And I think things have changed, there is a lot of player movement from one club to another and it may affect some of the clubs.
“So we are still there and still fighting.
“We haven’t achieved what we had hoped for, it’s far below our target. If things had gone according to our plans and the way we had prepared we had hoped to be among the top four teams by the end of the first half of the season.”
The Karoi chairman said financial problems derailed some of their projects.
