THE Kart Sport Club and Rok Cup Championships head to the middle of the race season for Round 4 tomorrow at the Pole Position Kart track at the National Sports Stadium.

A good entry is expected in all the classes as competitors chase points for title contention.

In the super-fast Rotax 125 Max class, brothers Zaydaan and Yaseen Savania are only 10 points apart in the championship and with family honours at stake, the racing promises to be intense.

Eli Pilossof has been in good form this year and will be aiming to keep the brothers in check and has high expectations of a strong podium finish.

2024 Mini Rok champion Seth Rukato and Tawana Shambare have both had their share of technical issues during the year and will be hoping to put them aside with some good results.

Cousins Zayaan and Eshaan Savania have been enjoying a close battle all year with young rookie Sam Townsend also joining in for a three-way fight.

Newcomer Jayden Lowe joins the impressive class and is looking forward to the challenging and exciting racing in this hard charging class

In the Mini Rok Class, Devin Van De Linde has been in unstoppable form this year but the championship remains close with young Rayaan Savania becoming an increasing threat in the championship race.

Jayden Kerwin and Elroy Shamu have been locked in battle for the past two race meetings and will be hoping to step up and cause some upset to the two front runners.

Newcomers Wade Gleig and Engelbert Mudzimba continue to impress and they will surely be chased by rookies Oliver Broadway and Daniel Sadiqi who have shown exceptional form in their first outings.

In the Kid ROK Class, for the youngest competitors starting from the age of 6 years, Sheunesu Shambare has had an exceptional year and leads the current championship standings.

Young Jake Edwards continues to improve his race craft with newcomer Ragnar Mudzimba hoping to show a repeat of his performance from the last race meeting where he managed a 2nd place in race four.

Kart Sport Club Chairman, Bobby Van De Linde said, “Kid Rok is the breeding class for our future champions and it has been amazing to see these children gain confidence, learn sportsmanship, and race craft this year.

“This Sunday, during our lunchtime break, we are also excited to have a demonstration of some Bambino karts with children as young as 5 years old driving. They are currently being coached to be our next generation of Kid Rok racers.”

The PPK Prokart series continues to prove its success with a full grid and offers an intermediate stage between rental and race karts.

Competition in the class has been fierce and with only three points separating leader Moe Moosa and Keron Lowe in second place going into the final round of this championship, the racing is expected to have spectators on their feet.

Kevin Dufty, proprietor of Pole Position Karts said: “The establishment of the new kart track and club at the National Sports Stadium in 2023 generated new excitement for karting in Zimbabwe.

“We are constantly developing the venue to provide a first-class karting facility to members and it is rewarding to see the club’s growth.”
