Former Chitungwiza Municipality chamber secretary Ms Priccilar Vengesai has taken her former employers to court alleging that they suspended her to conceal corrupt activities being led by Mayor Phillip Mutoti and town clerk Mr George Makunde.

In a separate application, Ms Vengesai dragged Mr Makunde to court claiming $20 000 in sexual harassment damages.

In an application filed at the High Court last week, Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Saviour Kasukuwere is cited as the first respondent, Chitungwiza Town Clerk (second respondent), Mayor Phillip Mutoti as the third respondent and the chairperson of the Local Government Board (fourth respondent).

Ms Vengesayi argues that before her dismissal, Mayor Mutoti told her that together with Mr Makunde, they had cancelled scheduled council meetings because issues on the agenda were meant to expose their corrupt ac- tivities.

“The gist of this application is that the first respondent (Minister Kasukuwere) as the overall watchdog over the conduct of the second respondent, third respondent, and fourth respondent, must hold them accountable for their action for the public good in our democratic society,” said Ms Vengesai.
