THE Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere, has lauded Nyanga Rural District Council for giving residents value for their money through service delivery.
NRDC has managed to do an array of projects in just less than a year, among them the refurbishing of Nyamhuka 1 Green market, constructing of Nyangani Park Bridge, servicing of Messenger’s Camp residential stands, opening of Nyamhuka 2 Cottage Industry and purchasing of a tipper truck ($ 89 000), front and back hoe loader ($95 000) and water reticulation piping materials ($238 000).
Speaking at the commissioning of the new road making equipment and ground-breaking ceremony to mark the commencement of servicing of Nyangani Park Extension Housing Scheme on Sunday, Cde Kasukuwere said he was impressed by the progress being made by NRDC and implored other councils nationally to take a leaf from the exemplary work.
“These are the type of councils we want in Zimbabwe. I have come to appreciate the good work being done here. Your innovativeness in buying equipment which will be used going forward instead of hiring shows your astuteness in service delivery.
“Nyanga is one of the few councils which are doing well in the country. May all the council leaders gathered here follow this good example. I hope to come back and play golf with you Mr Jaravaza (NRDC CEO),” said Cde Kasukuwere.
The Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Cde Mandi Chimene also commended Nyanga CEO, Mr Zefania Jaravaza for the sterling work in ensuring a clean environment in the resort village.
