MARATHON runner Godwin Katakura is this year expected to be part of the field at the TCS Amsterdam Marathon to take place in October in the Netherlands.

His coach Alden Muhoni confirmed he is up for the race that will take place on October 18.

While the promising runner is hoping to make the cut for next year’s World Athletics Championships, Muhoni said he would not want to rush the athlete.

“The focus is largely chasing a very good PB (personal best) for him.

“Of course, we are working towards the World Championships and it’s been the target, but I never want to rush him to race with strict targets.

“I want him to enjoy his running and not have too much pressure. He is still young and has plenty to learn, so I will be happy if he posts another PB towards end of the year.

“If that leads to World Championships or some record then it will be a bonus,” said Muhoni.

His current personal best is 2 hours 8 minutes 47 seconds.
