KAIZER Chiefs’ midfield dynamo and Warriors’ captain Willard Katsande says that it is the players – not the coach – who must take the blame for the club’s poor form of late.

The Amakhosi take on Highlands Park tomorrow night as they look to pick up their first win since April, with the Zimbabwean insisting that they are working on turning their fortunes around.

Pressure seems to be heaping on Steve Komphela following Chiefs’ inability to win any of their last six league games, but Katsande is adamant that the blame should not be laid at his door.

Speaking to the PSL’s official website, Katsande said, “It’s unfair to criticise the coach because we are a club, it’s like us as players criticising our own players. So I think it’s unfair; we need to take responsibility and raise our hands and say, ‘now we need to play better’. I think that’s the main thing and not to single out an individual – that’s unfair.

“We are working on that to change the situation. The only people who can change that is us who are in the situation. It is just a matter of time until we will get it right. I think we just need to bury the chances we create and also to avoid conceding in the first-half. That’s our big setback for now.”
