ZIMBABWEAN midfielder, Willard Katsande was on target for his South African Premiership side, Kaizer Chiefs as they came back from two-nil down to beat Polokwane City 3-2 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium yesterday.
The win saw Amakhosi open a six-point lead at the top of the Absa Premiership standings. Chiefs moved to 52 points, while second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns who drew 1-1 with Tapuwa Kapini’s Highlands Park on Friday are on 46. Masandawana, however, have a game in hand.
After the Glamour Boys found themselves two nil down with just over an hour played, Katsande headed into the far post in the 71st minute to spark his team’s revival. Kenyan Anthony Akumu equalised four minutes later and the comeback was complete in the 76th minute when Serbian Samir Nurkovic unleashed a thunderous shot from range.
Chiefs could even afford to miss a spot kick when substitute and debutant Keletso Sefama managed to win a penalty for his club after he was fouled in the box and Daniel Cardoso missed as his effort hit the crossbar.
Warriors goalkeeper, George Chigova was on the bench for Polokwane City, with Zambian Cyril Chibwe chosen ahead of him in goals for Rise and Shine who remain second from bottom.
