adminAddressing the youths at the party’s provincial headquarters in Marondera over the weekend, Zanu-PF national secretary for security Cde Sydney Sekeramayi paid tribute to Cde Kaukonde for taking a proactive role in ensuring that youths in the constituency are gainfully employed. Cde Sekeramayi is the Zanu-PF senatorial candidate for Marondera–Hwedza.
“We decided to have Cde Kaukonde to represent the party in Marondera so that he can reclaim the seat that we lost in 2008 after dominating any opposition since independence in 1980. Cde Kaukonde is a hands-on cadre and we believe he is going to reclaim Marondera’s lost glammour,” he said.
He said Marondera as a town had suffered from years of neglect from the MDC-T legislator Mr Ian Kay and its councillors.
“We need to work hard and retain the seat we lost to the MDC and in Cde Kaukonde, Zanu-PF has given the people of Marondera hope for restoration of a town that had been neglected,” he said.
He urged the youths to be disciplined and work towards victory for President Mugabe and Zanu-PF in the election set for July 31.
