After a successful 2016 in which his song Hammertime was touted as the biggest hip-hop song in Namibia by the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, Zimbabwean rapper Kabelo a?KBrizzya? Matiwaza is looking to spread his success across the region through strategic collaborations.
The Namibia-based rapper is in the country to work with Zimbabweas Cal_vin, while another collaboration with popular South African rapper Rogue will follow. Cal_vin needs no introduction to Zimbabwean audiences, while Rogue was touted as one of the best by rapper AKA last year when he made a remix of his hit song, Baddest featuring four of South Africaas top female rappers.
In addition, the young rapper will also collaborate with Zambiaas Tony Shuck.
a?We are trying to spread the movement. Once we shoot our videos for the singles from our albums they will also catapult the collaborations.a?
a?In Namibia I did some music with The Dogg in January, which is for his next album. He is basically the biggest artiste there. Right now Iam working on a song with Cal_Vin, sometime this week, and by month end Iam going out to South Africa to work on something with femcee Rouge. Iam also working with upcoming artiste Tony Shuck from Zambia,a? KBrizzy said in an interview.
Born and bred in Bulawayo, 24-year-old KBrizzy has been on a steady rise in Namibia in the last few years.
A self proclaimed a?Zeus with the pen-gamea?, his ability to rap a?punchline after punchlinea? is what caught the ear of established artiste KK in 2012, who showed immediate interest in the rapper.
Alongside KK, Kbrizzy has shared stages with local acts Gazza, Desmond and international acts Cassper Nyovest, K.O, Kid X and AKA.
The addition of fellow artiste Raymondo a?Raya? Langenhoven to the Bermuda Music Record Label in 2015 had unpredictable results, as it resulted in Kbrizzy putting his solo album The Cashmere Summer Season on hold, to work on the collaborative album The 48 Genius Summers with Ray, culminating in their hit single Hammertime.
