‘Keep abreast with latest combat training’

Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officers have been urged to keep abreast with latest combat training and operational standards to be prepared for counter attacks in the 21st century.

Addressing senior army Generals and officers undergoing a mobile Brigade Administrative Area training seminar at 2 Brigade Headquarters in Harare yesterday, ZNA Chief of Staff (Quartermaster Staff) Major-General Hlanganani Dube said successful commanders spend every little time and chance studying war.

“Great leaders are men and women of great initiatives, imagination and vision,” he said.
“They spend time preparing, planning and fighting fictitious battles in their minds, practising for the real war. Training their minds and followers how to handle various known and unknown battle challenges.

“There is no substitute to training, not even large numbers against small numbers, not even superior weapons and arsenal against inferior weapons.

“To win peace, you must study war, and seminars of this nature will help in achieving that.”
Maj-Gen Dube said the seminar was an eye-opener as it had training instructors from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Instructors Training Team (PLAITT).
