GOALKEEPER Wallace Magalane says he is humbled to win the Player of the Month award.
He kept five clean sheets in July.
The FC Platinum goalie hailed his teammates and those that voted to recognise his hard work.
“I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
“I am happy to win the award, and credit goes to my teammates and the coaches too.
“It’s all about team effort and hard work,” he said.
The champions scooped a double when they also won the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League’s Coach of the Month award.
Head coach Norman Mapeza picked the gong, after leading his side to a five-game unbeaten run. It was made up of four wins and one draw, without conceding a goal. They scored seven goals.
FC Platinum beat Chicken Inn, Bulawayo Chiefs, ZPC Kariba and Harare City, and shared the spoils with Dynamos.
The Zvishavane-based side top the league table with 51 points, six clear of Dynamos and Chicken Inn, who are tied on 45 points.
FC Platinum are in top form and have gone 11 games unbeaten. They are favourites to lift a fourth consecutive title.
Doing so will see them entering the history books with Highlanders, and Dynamos, as the only teams to have achieved that feat.
FC Platinum’s last defeat came in April, when they were pipped 1-0 by Herentals, in Harare.
Mapeza was recently fined by the PSL for questioning the integrity of match officials.
But, he has proved his coaching credentials by claiming two monthly awards.
FC Platinum will take on Tenax in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup at Mandava this weekend.
