CULTURE is one of the things that connects us to where we come from.
It lives in the languages we speak, the names we carry, the food we prepare, the stories shared by our elders, the music we enjoy and the traditions that bring families and communities together. It is also reflected in the values that shape how we relate to one another and understand our place within our communities.
For Zimbabwe, our cultural heritage is an important part of our identity. As generations change and the world becomes increasingly connected, there is a growing need to ensure that the knowledge, traditions and values that define us are not lost.
Preserving culture is, therefore, not simply about looking back at the past; it is about ensuring that future generations understand where they come from and have an opportunity to carry that heritage forward.
It is against this background that Nyaradzo Group is proud to support the 2nd Annual Mutupo Festival, taking place on October 3, 2026 at Sherwood Golf Club in Harare.
The Mutupo Festival creates a platform for Zimbabweans to come together and explore the meaning and significance of mutupo, while celebrating the traditions, stories and values that have been passed from one generation to another.
Through cultural discussions, music, food and shared experiences, the festival provides an opportunity for families and communities to reconnect with an important part of who they are.
For many Zimbabweans, mutupo is more than a name. It is connected to family history, ancestry, identity and a sense of belonging.
For generations, elders have carried this knowledge and passed it on through conversations, family gatherings and everyday interactions. Yet, as lifestyles change and generations grow up in different environments, some of these conversations are happening less frequently. Platforms that encourage these conversations therefore have an important role to play.
The Mutupo Festival gives families an opportunity to share stories, ask questions and learn from one another. It gives young people an opportunity to engage with their heritage and understand that culture is not simply something belonging to the past, but something that continues to shape who we are today.
For Nyaradzo Group, supporting this initiative is a natural extension of the Sahwira experience. Being a sahwira means being there for people through the different seasons of life. It means walking with our sahwiras through moments of celebration, transition and difficulty and understanding that our relationship with communities goes beyond a single service or transaction.
Our work has always brought us close to families and communities. We are privileged to share in some of their most significant moments and through these relationships we understand the importance of family, identity, tradition and the values that bind communities together.
This understanding also informs our commitment to the arts and culture. Over the years, Nyaradzo Group has supported platforms that give Zimbabwean artistes, creatives and cultural practitioners space to express themselves and celebrate who we are. Our Nduri platform, including the Tsika Nemagariro show, provides a space for conversations around Zimbabwean culture, traditions and heritage, keeping these subjects part of everyday conversations.
Across the Group, our businesses also contribute to the cultural experience in practical ways. SATCLO celebrates Zimbabwean identity through clothing, providing opportunities for people to proudly wear designs inspired by our heritage. SEAL creates authentic experiences around food, leisure and community, allowing people to experience aspects of Zimbabwean culture in a relaxed and engaging environment.
These elements come together in the Sahwira experience. At cultural gatherings and events, artistes can proudly showcase their work while being dressed through SATCLO, while food offered through SEAL adds another dimension to the experience. It is about creating spaces where culture is not only discussed, but seen, heard, tasted, worn and experienced.
Our commitment to culture is, therefore, not separate from who we are as Nyaradzo Group. It forms part of how we engage with our sahwiras and the communities we serve.
We believe in walking through with our sahwiras, not only when they need us most, but across the different experiences that make up life. That includes supporting platforms that bring communities together, celebrate their identity and create opportunities for generations to connect.
The Mutupo Festival represents exactly that kind of opportunity.
By supporting the festival, Nyaradzo Group is walking with its sahwiras in celebrating their heritage and creating space for meaningful conversations around culture and identity.
It is an opportunity to stand alongside communities as they preserve traditions, share knowledge and introduce younger generations to the heritage that has shaped them.
Culture preservation does not mean resisting change or trying to remain in the past. It means carrying forward the knowledge, stories and values that remain important while allowing them to evolve with each generation.
Young Zimbabweans should have the opportunity to know the stories behind their names, understand the traditions of their families and engage with their heritage in ways that are relevant to their lives.
When cultural knowledge is shared, it creates continuity. When it is celebrated, it creates pride. And when it is passed on, it ensures that future generations have a connection to the people and traditions that came before them.
For businesses and institutions, supporting cultural initiatives is also an opportunity to contribute to the communities they serve. Development is not only about economic progress; it is also about strengthening the social connections, values and identity that give communities a sense of belonging.
This is part of the reason Nyaradzo Group has chosen to support the Mutupo Festival. As an organisation that has grown alongside Zimbabwean families and communities, we recognise the importance of being present in the spaces that matter to our sahwiras.
On October 3, the Mutupo Festival will bring people together to celebrate Zimbabwean heritage through conversations, music, food and cultural experiences. It will be a moment to celebrate the generations that came before us, to reconnect with the traditions that have shaped us and to encourage young people to take an interest in the heritage they will one day pass on.
For Nyaradzo Group, this is what being a Sahwira is about — being present, understanding our communities and working through with our sahwiras through life’s different seasons.
Our support for the Mutupo Festival is, therefore, a continuation of our commitment to celebrating Zimbabwean culture and supporting the people who keep it alive. From the stories shared through Nduri and Tsika Nemagariro, to the clothing showcased through SATCLO, the food and experiences offered through SEAL, and the artistes and cultural practitioners we continue to support, the Sahwira experience brings these elements together.
Culture is not preserved by one person or one organisation —it remains alive when communities come together to practise it, celebrate it, share it and pass it on.
When we preserve our culture, we preserve the stories that tell us who we are.
And as a Sahwira, Nyaradzo Group is proud to walk with its communities in keeping those stories alive.
