KELIS Ndlovhu scored her fourth half-century at the Kwibuka Women’s T20I tournament in Rwanda to help Zimbabwe emerging side to record a 64-run victory against Nigeria yesterday.
The win saw Zimbabwe moving to second position on the log standings of the round robin format.
Having batted first, Zimbabwe posted a score of 158 with Ndlovhu scoring runs off 41.
It was her fourth half-century in six matches for the Zimbabwe emerging side at the ongoing T20I internationals tournament.
Beloved Biza, who has been impressive at the tournament, was Zimbabwe second highest run scorer.
She was four runs shy of a half-century from 37 balls.
Zimbabwe had a great opening to their innings as the opening pair of Ndlovhu and Biza was in great form contributing a total of 108 runs inside 13 overs.
Nigeria found a breakthrough with the first ball of the 13th over. Ndlovhu was dismissed lbw, off a Peculiar Agboya delivery.
Biza was the next to be dismissed, three overs later, after she was bowled out by Lillian Udeh.
The dismissal of the opening pair marked a collapse of the Zimbabwe batting line-up as they went on to lose five more wickets, in the last four overs, for a paltry 23 runs.
Christine Mutasa scored Zimbabwe’s third best score, hitting 32 runs off 24 balls, with the rest of the batting line of the day failing to record double digits.
Chasing a target of 159 runs, Nigeria had a blistering start as they threatened to chase down.
By the time Nigeria reached the half-way mark of its innings they had already lost seven wickets.
Mutasa proved lethal for the Zimbabwe emerging side by bagging five wickets.
