Khethiwe falls in love with Zim

South African actress Winnie Modise, popularly known as Khethiwe Buthelezi in the soapie Generations has fallen in love with Zimbabwe.
Barely a week after she visited Bulawayo, Modise is back again, and this time she is on holiday in the resort town of Victoria Falls.Clad in red shoes, blue jeans, red top, a blue jean top and a red handbag, the popular South African actress arrived at the Victoria Falls International airport yesterday afternoon on board South African Airways in the company of a female friend.

The beautiful and intriguing actress was met at the airport by the Hwange Rural District vice chairperson, Cde Mathew Muleya, director of Mahlelani Tours, Chris Ndiweni, and local artiste Blessing “Buju” Nyagwaya among other fans from the resort town. Imbube dance group welcomed her with a dance.

From the airport, she was taken to Victoria Falls rainforest car park where she had time to mix and mingle with some of her fans after which she was taken to Elephant Hills resort for lunch.

Welcoming Modise, Elephant Hills resort general manager, Trythings Mutyandasvika said having brand ambassadors like Modise was a welcome development for the county.

“We welcome you to this beautiful place, the best there is and the best there ever will be. We are a peace-loving nation and we are very optimistic that the glory days of tourism are coming back,” he said.

In an interview, Modise said she had fallen in love with the country.

“I was planning on flying to Victoria Falls after my visit to Bulawayo, but I could not do so because of time. I am here now to see for myself, what makes Victoria Falls tick. It has always been my wish to visit this resort town,” said the budding actress.

The South African actress, who also claimed Zimbabwean ancestry said since this was her first time to visit Victoria Falls, she had been left dumbfounded by the flora and fauna, the people and the hotel she is staying at.

“This is a beautiful town and I know I am going to enjoy myself,” she said.

Muleya said Modise will today embark on a couple of activities which include bungee jumping, flight of Angels by Zambezi Helicopter Company, and lion walk among other activities.

Besides being an actress, Modise is a businesswoman, a mother and just launched the first soapie awards — the Royalty Soapie Awards.
