adminCape Town – Following a glittering year with Kaizer Chiefs, Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune expressed his desire to move to a European club yesterday.
The 26-year-old shot stopper led Chiefs to a league and cup double last season, winning the Nedbank Cup to go with their first PSL title since 2005.
“Spider kid”, as he is affectionately known, also walked away with many of the PSL’s top individual accolades, claiming the prestigious PSL footballer of the year crown along with the PSL players player of the year, Nedbank Cup player of the tournament, PSL goalkeeper of the season as well as Kaizer Chiefs’ player of the season.
Khune also featured on goal.com’s 50 best players in the world for the 2012/13 season, while closer to home, Khune was crowned as South Africa’s player Sportsman of the year at the SA Sports Awards.
According to the goal.com website, Khune said that it is his dream to go and play overseas, but that he will still honour his current contract with the Phefeni Glamour Boys, which runs until June 2015.
The North West-born goal minder also stated that his next ambition is to help the Amakhosi win the Caf Champions League, which begins in February against Namibian champions, Black Africa.
