Kieran Vincent makes mark

UNITED States-based top amateur golfer Kieran Vincent was recently named the first ASUN Men’s Golfer of the Week for the 2019-2020 season.

This followed a runners-up finish at the 2019 Island Resort Intercollegiate.

Vincent, who represents Liberty University as a junior, posted a six-under par 210 (71-68-71) at the Sage Run Golf Course (par 72, 7,375 yards) in Bark Hill, Michigan over two days.

Vincent’s score helped the Flames, as Liberty are known, to capture the team title at the tournament, the programme’s 30th team title at the NCAA Division One level and first since last fall.

The Harare golfer finished three shots off the overall lead to post his fifth career top-five tournament finish.

Vincent led the field in par-five scoring and was ranked 10th in the field with 12 birdies.

As a team, Liberty led the 10-team field in par-five scoring and were ranked second in total birdies (56).

The ASUN weekly award is the first of Vincent’s career, who was named to the ASUN Men’s Golf second-team all-conference squad last year.
