ZIM hip-hop artiste, Christabell “Kikky Bad***” Mahlungwa, is crying foul play after Zimdancehall chanter, Qounfuzed, was not nominated for the 21st National Arts Merit Awards.
The awards were held last Saturday at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) under the theme “Unlocking Dreams”.
She said the Kamunamato Kekubhawa singer deserved an accolade after a successful 2022, which saw him embarking on a European tour.
Kikky said Qounfuzed should not be demotivated by the omission adding that it was just a phase.

She described him as an amazing, resilient and consistent artiste.
“Qounfuzed take heart, don’t be discouraged you have come a long way. Imagine if you gave up back then, you didn’t, your resilience paid off and you managed to create a great fan base. Your catalogue is amazing and the streets know that without the award, you are running it here in Zimbabwe, apa hauko kuno kwacho.
“I see it at shows where people sing your songs’ lyrics. Just continue putting out great music, they will come around,” she said.
Last year, he made waves with songs such as Kamunamato Kukubhawa, Sofa – which has an accompanying video, and Nguva, among other compositions.
