At 30, Robert Muswaka, a student at Speciss College, has earned a Level 6 Diploma in Business and Strategic Management —remarkably, while also launching his own construction company.
In an interview with the Saturday Chronicle during his graduation ceremony, Muswaka shared that the Business and Strategic Management programme at the college inspired him to start a business focused on construction, procurement, and the supply of building materials.
He attributed his success to applying the knowledge gained from his studies directly into his entrepreneurial venture.

“During my time of study, I faced challenges, but I managed to overcome them,” he said.
Muswaka also revealed that he has since created employment opportunities through his business.
Among the youngest graduates was 19-year-old Kim Hassam, who attained a diploma in Hospitality Management. She described her internationally recognised qualification as a major milestone in her life, expressing hopes of travelling the world while pursuing her passion.
She acknowledged the difficulties she faced as a teenager balancing academic and personal challenges.
“I was inspired to do this programme because I believe it comes with a lot of opportunities for us young people who want to travel the world,” said Hassam.

A total of 105 students from Speciss College, one of Zimbabwe’s most recognised private colleges founded in 1966 by George Loverdos, graduated yesterday, receiving diplomas across various faculties, including Business, Technical, and Computer Studies. Several outstanding students were recognised with awards for academic excellence.
Deputy Campus Director Abel Matandirotya noted that the graduates were from the Business and Technical Department — one of three departments at the college.

“It’s a very important event for us. Our goal is to provide both practical and academic education to the public. Our courses accommodate all age groups,” he said. He added that while over 100 students graduated, some were unable to attend the ceremony due to work commitments outside the city. The graduating cohort ranged in age from 20 to 35 years.
Guest speaker Pastor Patience Tombo encouraged graduates to uphold values such as honesty, integrity, faith, and loyalty, emphasising that good character can open avenues and build trust where education alone cannot, serving as an anchor in turbulent times.
