MOSCOW. – Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un has arrived in Russia for his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia’s Ria Novosti new agency confirmed yesterday.
Kim’s train travelled north through Primorsky Krai in the Far East region of the country, the agency reported with images showing a train with dark green carriages being pulled along a track by a Russian Railways locomotive.
Kim left Pyongyang by train on Sunday afternoon to visit Russia, accompanied by leading officials of the country’s ruling party and the armed forces, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported yesterday.
Kim arrived at Khasan station, the main rail gateway to Russia’s Far East from the DPRK, yesterday.
According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, the meeting between Putin and Kim will take place in Russia’s Far East.
“We are not telling yet (where talks will take place). In the Far East,” the spokesperson said, answering the question of where the meeting will take place.
He said negotiations between the two delegations headed by the leaders of the countries will take place, and one-on-one communication is expected besides an official dinner on behalf of Putin in honor of Kim. This will be the second meeting between Putin and Kim. The first also took place in Moscow in 2019. – cgtn.com
