Kim Kardashian has scored a major career win while briefly setting aside her law dream after she failed to pass the bar exam.
The 45-year-old TV personality — who recently celebrated Mother’s Day with a heart-warming post — has taken a big step when it comes to her entertainment career by adding another project under her belt.
The SKIMS founder was revealed to be one of the executive producers on an upcoming YA Netflix series titled Calabasas, Deadline reported.
Kardashian is joining other executive producers on the project including Alexandra Milchan and Emma Roberts.
Both the reality star and Roberts previously worked together on the Ryan Murphy series American Horror Story: Delicate (2023).
Chris Van Dusen is the showrunner and an executive producer on the forthcoming series. He is also known for being the showrunner on the first two seasons of Netflix’s Bridgerton.
“I’ll forever be trying to wrap my head around being lucky enough to get to work with creative partners this smart, supportive, and ambitious,” Van Dusen said in a statement.
“From Kim Kardashian, Emma Roberts and the whole producing team, to Bela Bajaria, Jinny Howe and everyone at Netflix.”
The producer added that Calabasas has been a show he has “dreamed” of creating and further described it as “glamorous, bold, addictive and emotionally-charged.”
“The great teen dramas of that era proved TV could be escapist, provocative, and deeply personal all at once,” Van Dusen said, referring to shows he grew up watching.
“To get to bring that type of wild ride to today’s audiences is incredibly exciting. And more obviously I’ll take all the free or heavily-discounted smoothies from Erewhon I can get. That part too.”
Calabasas takes inspiration from the 2021 book titled, If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous By Now by Via Bleidner.
The premise of the series will follow the daughter of the headmaster of an elite private school who “is destined to have it all” but enters “a forbidden romance” with a boy ‘determined to burn down her glittering world,’ according to Netflix.
“In Calabasas, where desires are never as clean as appearances suggest, falling in love might be the most dangerous rebellion of all.”
The series had initially been scheduled for development back in 2024, but under a different showrunner and logline.
Kardashian herself is no stranger to Calabasas and notably grew up in the Los Angeles area.
She also lives in a sprawling Hidden Hills mansion with her four children, which is next to the city of Calabasas.
The reality star has been focusing on her entertainment career in recent years and has appeared in projects such as Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie (2023), American Horror Story: Delicate (2023) and All’s Fair (2025).
She has also taken on a role in the upcoming Netflix comedy film The Fifth Wheel alongside Nikki Glaser, Brenda Song, Fortune Feimster and Jack Whitehall.
Eva Longoria is directing the movie, although an official release date has yet to be announced.
Kardashian’s latest attachment as an executive producer to the new Netflix series Calabasas comes not long after it was revealed whether she intends to take the bar exam again.
After failing to pass the test last year, sources told TMZ that the star does not plan to take the exam this year.
