Popular dancehall chanter Shadreck Kwarire, better known as King Shaddy, will on August 31 perform for the first time with his new band Makorokoza Choir at the much hyped Summer Slam at Rainbow Towers. King Shaddy assured his fans of an up to scratch performance. This comes a few weeks after he was battered by robbers in an attempted mugging.
“We have been rehearsing for some time now in preparation for the bash and what we are going to deliver is nothing short of quality. We are hoping to win more fans because our sound has matured,” he said.
“People should brace themselves for lots of new stuff although old ones like ‘Danmore’ will not be left out. Songs to look out for on the day include new tracks, ‘Machira Chete’, ‘Puff Adder’, ‘Vanonyeya Vamwe’ and ‘Road’,” he said.
King Shaddy also applauded award-winning promoter Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions for supporting local artistes.
“I want to thank Mr Chipaz for having us the artistes at heart. He treats us with the same level of respect as international artistes. If we have more promoters with such integrity, local artistes are bound to have a conducive working environment,” he said.
Eighteen artistes, comprising of top class deejays and MCs are expected to come together for this year’s edition of the Summer Slam.
Dubbed the Summer Slam/Big Brother Official welcome party, the gig is expected to see guest appearances from 2013 Big Brother housemates, Pokello Nare and Hakeem Mandaza.
