In one of his many controversial songs called “Makanika”, King Shaddy equates a woman to a car engine that needs to be fixed when it breaks down.
“Of course, I touch on sensitive issues but that is my style of singing and that is art,” he said.
He said some pastors who preach in clubs and bars use appropriate language to put their messages across without offending anyone.
“The bottom line is dissemination of information should come in all forms. For instance, in ‘Makanika’, I am encouraging youths to use protection if they want to engage in any sexual activities.
“On my every album, I will make it a point to at least have one or two songs targeting the youths,” he said.
King Shaddy confessed that he started out his music career performing in beerhalls.
Then, his music was popular among revellers and he decided to go commercial.
