ZIMBABWE’S swimming sensation Kirsty Coventry has officially been named as Econet’s Brand Ambassador. Econet Wireless Zimbabwe is Zimbabwe’s largest provider of telecommunications services, providing solutions in mobile and fixed wireless telephone, public payphones, Internet access and payment solutions.
Affectionately known as “Golden Girl”, Coventry is one of the world’s most remarkable athletes. Her achievement in sport has earned her more Olympic medals than any other athlete in Africa.
“As a nation, we believe that a role model such as Kirsty Coventry needs all of the support that we are able to give her and as she prepares to compete in her fifth Olympic Games, we are very pleased to be able to give her our support,” Econet said in a Press statement released yesterday.
Already in her career, she has competed in four consecutive Olympic Games, won seven Olympic medals, broke seven world records, been nominated as the African Swimmer of the Year on five separate occasions .
