ZIMBABWE netball walked away with more than new kits yesterday.
They left with fresh money in the bank and renewed belief that the road to the 2027 World Cup may not have to be travelled on promises alone.
The Zimbabwe Netball Association (ZINA) secured a US$95,000 sponsorship package from Caledonia Mine, a timely injection that arrives as the Zambezi Eagles headed to South Africa for the Telkom Netball League and as the senior Gems side begins building towards the next World Cup qualifiers.
Part of the funcing will cover the Eagles’ travel and accommodation costs during the ongoing Telkom Netball League campaign, while another portion will go towards preparations for the 2027 Netball World Cup qualifiers.
Caledonia said their involvement goes beyond simply writing a cheque.
“At Caledonia, we believe that this support is more than sponsorship, it is about contributing to unity, opportunity and shared pride,” the company said. “We are proud to stand behind the Gems through our US$95 000 sponsorship as they pursue qualification for the Netball World Cup 2027.”
The sponsorship also arrived on the same day the Zambezi Eagles, under coach Ropafadzo Mutsauki, left by road for South Africa where they will take part in Power Week Two of the Telkom Netball League.
