KK WOULD HAVE LOVED DEVINE TO STAY

HIGHLANDERS coach Kelvin Kaindu has said he would have wanted midfielder Devine Mhindirira to stay at Bosso.

Mhindirira left the club at the end of last month, following the expiry of his contract with the Bulawayo giants.

Kaindu said they were counting their losses after the midfielder’s departure.

He said they are yet to find a replacement for the 2022 season Soccer Star of the Year finalist whom he wanted to stay at the club.

Kaindu was speaking after his side completed the double over Dynamos by beating them 2-0 at Rufaro.

“He is one of our good players, it’s unfortunate that he is gone, we wish him well where he has gone.

“We are yet to find a replacement, we thought we will keep him but at the end of the day he has made a decision to go.

“I was just thinking that if Devine was also there in the middle of the park, how exciting it would have been.”

Mhindirira has since joined FC Platinum with their coach, Norman Mapeza, is a big admirer of the player.

Highlanders allegedly owed Mhindirira US$6 000 in signing-on fees and offered to make a part-payment of US$4 000 but the player had other ideas.

However, the club said they have since cleared the signing-on fees owed to players.

Mhindirira’s relationship with Highlanders has had its fair share of ups and downs.

Owing to a nagging injury, Mhindirira saw little game time at Bosso last season.

It was the same year that the 2022 season Soccer Star of the Year finalist was called for a disciplinary hearing after he missed Bosso’s first three weeks of pre-season training.

He was let off the hook because he was still owed his 2019 signing-on fee as well as the 2022 one when he extended his contract.
