Knife-wielding duo on the loose in Nkayi

A NIGHT of terror in Nkayi ended in bloodshed when two knife-wielding suspects allegedly stabbed a man to death and left a woman fighting for her life in hospital during separate attacks.

The suspects, who are still on the run, allegedly struck first at a woman’s homestead before moving to Belmont, near Nkayi Business Centre, where they fatally attacked Nkosilathi Moyo.

A source close to the investigations told B-Metro the duo confronted the woman at her homestead, shining torchlight in her face before demanding cash.

“They demanded cash but the woman told them she didn’t have any. One of the assailants charged at her and stabbed her on the forehead before snatching her cellphone and fleeing,” said the source.

After fleeing the homestead, the suspects allegedly headed to Belmont, where they encountered Nkosilathi and ordered him to stop.

“They demanded cash but he had nothing on him. They were incensed, one of the suspects stabbed

Nkosilathi twice in the chest causing him to tumble to the ground and bleed.

“He died moments later,” said the source.

The suspects fled, and the incidents were reported to the police.
Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda confirmed the attacks.

“We confirm that a man named Nkosilathi Moyo was stabbed to death while a woman is hospitalised after she was stabbed on the forehead by two suspects who are on the run,” said Insp Banda.

Police have appealed to members of the public to provide information that could lead to the suspects’ arrest.

“Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station,” said Insp Banda.
