Knowing your identity

Identity is the fact of being what a person or thing is.

People in life generally have their own perception and views on how their identify you.

Identity actually dictates our social behaviour and action which defines the very essence of our culture.

Children should have productive and constructive culture, and ought to engage in extra- curriculum activities that are both educational and entertaining.

In society school uniforms, church uniforms and various fashion wear are a way to identify sub-cultures, and groups and cliques that exist in our society.

The most important thing in life is to have a focused mind and be able to identify and define yourself before the next person can do that.

“Identity comes first at the personal level before ethnic and national level respectively. Henceforth, before one can identify with his or her own ethnicity or nationality one has to grasp his or her worth within the society as a whole,” explained 18-year-old Timothy from Marlborough.

Zimbabweans should never bow down or succumb to deviant actions that compromise their health.
Everyone has a different cool and swag, and if we all behaved the same there would be no distinguishing features to identify us.

Some people tend to lose weight, dress in a particular manner, drink beer or smoke cigarettes to be labelled as cool by their peers.

The ideal way to overcome these social obstacles is for one to maintain his or her perception under all circumstances.

In actual fact children discover self-worth and confidence from within.

A person who lacks identity is a person who lacks the purpose and sense of life and is bound to think and act recklessly.

Identity crisis is one of major causes of suicide and deviant tendencies.

No person can appreciate the beauty of life if he or she lacks purpose.

Some people have allowed their colleagues and peers to define them.

This to a greater degree affects some teenagers who are forced to engage in smoking, drinking and abusing drugs in an attempt to in fit because they lack a sense of oneness.

Every child goes through some ups and downs, highs and lows.

The pain and struggle you go through is part of life and if you have a strong conviction of your identity.

The same experiences instead of breaking you they will make you.

Refuse to lose and when life gives you lemons make lemonade.

“Never allow people that make fun or define you in a negative way to get the better of you because you more than an achiever.

“You’re a bright star so let your light shine walking tall with your head over your shoulders,” said John Mamvura from Epworth.

He opened up on how he suffered some emotional and physical bullying from peers that wanted him to conform is because of his strong family cultural roots.

The desire to please another person at the expense of your physical, emotional and spiritual health
Identity defines your character, personality and your destiny.

People need to understand that in life no matter how good, decent and appeasing one may act you will never please everyone in life.

What makes people adhere the social dictates that are hazardous to them is the longing desire to be loved and appreciated.

People that suffer negation and are hurting resort to deviant ways to ease the hurt and prone to damaging addictions.
