Knox Mutizwa waits Wits outcome

KNOX Mutizwa will only know tomorrow whether he will be signed by South African Premier Soccer League side Bidvest Wits, according to his agent Gibson Mahachi.
Mahachi said it was not a secret that Mutizwa had done extremely well at the trials he underwent at the ABSA Premiership table topping Johannesburg based club with the official position expected to be communicated by Wits tomorrow.

The Highlanders striker, who had arrived a day before the Easycall Cup semi-final clash against bitter rivals Dynamos after his first trial stint, shrugged off fatigue and scored a goal in a 2-1 triumph that saw his team book a place in the final against Chicken Inn today.

Mutizwa returned to South Africa last Monday for further assessment by the Gavin Hunt led technical team.
He played a friendly match for the Clever Boys against SuperSport United on Tuesday which ended in a 1-1 stalemate. The Zimbabwean striker reportedly created the Wits goal.

He arrived home last Friday in time for today’s Easycall Cup final.
“The boy has done his part, I am sure he has done enough to impress. We expect to hear from the club, the boy has done very well. If the deal is done they will say when they want him, we will wait for their official position. We spoke to them and they will give their feedback, the rest is just rumours.

“Everything depends on what they say to us on Monday (tomorrow). We stand guided by the club who will communicate their official position. He impressed, that is why he was called back, the club has to officially communicate, once they do that we start doing the negotiations,’’ said Mahachi.

The Harare-based Mahachi said as far as he was aware, Mutizwa is done with trials at Wits and will not be required for further scrutiny. He also pointed out that he was not aware of any plans to send the striker on trials in Sweden.

Zifa presidential election losing candidate Trevor Caresle-Juul was quoted in the media at the beginning of month claiming that he had arranged for Mutizwa to the European country.

The 22-year-old Mutizwa, a Highlanders first team member since 2011 rose to prominence this year with his prolific goal scoring prowess when he scored 14 league goals in 18 league matches having started in 15 of those fixtures. This saw him win the Golden Boot award worth $4 000 at the Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year awards and also took the second runner-up accolade with value of $2 000 during the same ceremony which he, however, missed as he was undergoing trials at Wits.
