Knox ready to shine

HIGHLANDERS’ leading scorer Knox Mutizwa is ready to take his club form to the Warriors when they take on Lesotho this afternoon at Barbourfields in the African Nations Championship first leg final round qualifier.

Mutizwa, who tops the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League goal scorer’s chart together with Chicken Inn’s Edmore Chirambadare on 11 goals, said playing at Barbourfields will give him added confidence as it was Highlanders’ home ground.

“I want to take the good form I have been experiencing at Highlanders and assist the nation in this crucial tie. I am happy Zifa have brought the national team to BF, I believe this is good for me since this is my home ground,” said Mutizwa.

While there would be added pressure on Mutizwa and Chirambadare to come up with the goals as the PSL’s leading scorers, the Bosso marksman said they would have to handle it and come up with the goals to ensure Zimbabwe win the match emphatically.

However, Rodrick Mutuma is expected to play as an out and out striker with either Mutizwa or Chirambadare playing behind him. Skipper Danny Phiri is expected to control matters in the middle of the park with Marshal Mudehwe, Nqobizitha Masuku and Bruce Kangwa complementing him in the midfield while Teenage Hadebe, Lawrence Moyo, Blessing Moyo and Ocean Mushure are expected to make up the defence.
