The vibrant energy of the Kokota Festival is set to transcend its traditional festivities as Browny “Mr Kokota” (real name Mandla Moyo), the visionary behind the movement, has unveiled plans for the inaugural Kokota Festival Awards.
Scheduled for April 24, these awards aim to recognise and appreciate individuals and groups who have significantly contributed to the success and vibrancy of the Kokota movement over the past four years.
“It’s been four years since we launched the Kokota festival, spanning four successful editions. I believe it has evolved into a broad movement that the youth appreciate. It occurred to us, why not express our gratitude with a token of appreciation for those who have supported and brought our movement to life,” said Browny.
Emphasising the collaborative and celebratory spirit that defines the Kokota Festival, Browny outlined several categories for the awards, including “Best Club DJ”, “Fans Choice”, “Best Dance Crew”, “Best Female Model”, “Upcoming Musician across all genres”, “Best Male Model”, “Fans Choice”, “Best Producer”, “Best Fashion Designer” and “Most Influential Act”.
Nominees for these categories will be selected through online submissions of their portfolios, with the eventual winners determined through online voting.
“Kokota Festival is all about us coming together. Therefore, we will host a live ceremony to present the awards to the winners. We want to express our love and appreciation for people while they are still with us,” he added.
“For the awards, our plan is to host them annually. We hope to see larger brands joining forces with us, making the Kokota awards a viral sensation within the industry.”
With submissions for nominees open until February 27, the inaugural Kokota Festival Awards promise to be a celebration of creativity, talent, and collaboration, showcasing the dynamic spirit of the Kokota community.
