Kolo Toure speaks life into Ghana dreams

NEWLY-CROWNED Afcon winner, Kolo Toure, believes the current Ghana team will soon win Africa’s biggest football prize, too.
This crop of Black Stars players came within a penalty shootout of breaking Ghana’s 33-year wait for silverware but Toure’s side emerged victorious on Sunday.

“Our generation has been looking for this trophy and we have missed out on it twice in the final,” noted the veteran defender.

None of that vaunted “golden generation” symbolises the victory better than goalkeeper Boubacar Barry, who was the hero on the night of the 2015 Afcon final. Toure, who plays for Liverpool, observes that Ghana’s team have so many good years ahead of them.

“I think for Ghana it’s the second one as well. Maybe the next one will be better for them because they have really good players and they are also very young.”

The next African Cup’s hosts are yet to be decided by the Confederation of African Football.  — SuperSport
