Incoming England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Colin Graves has spoken to batsman Kevin Pietersen about a return to the England side. Pietersen wants a meeting when he completes World Cup radio duties, reports BBC Sport’s Pat Murphy. It comes a day after selector James Whitaker said the 34-year-old was “not part” of the team’s plans. Pietersen was sacked in February 2014 in the fallout of the 5-0 Ashes whitewash by Australia.
Graves, who takes over as ECB chairman on May 15, has not yet agreed to the meeting and says he will try to accommodate Pietersen but told the BBC he has made no promises to him. However, he did vow it will be a different ECB under his leadership.
South African-born Pietersen has agreed to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which starts on April 8. — BBC Sport.
