AFRO jazz artist, Kudzie Kayz, continues to raise the Zimbabwean flag high after he thrilled fans at the Rwanda Music Festival in Kigali on Wednesday.
The crooner has been touring the world for the past five years, performing at festivals in Brazil and Saudi Arabia.
His passion for music inspired him to use his talent to fight gender-based violence.
Speaking to H-Metro, the 29-year-old said his music was mainly focused on child marriages and gender-based violence.
“I launched an album with visuals titled Mavambo last week which was inspired by my surroundings.
“I use my music to preach about peace, love and hope,” he said.
Consisting of 10 tracks, the album features five artists, three local musicians and one from South Africa and the other one from Zambia.
The artist conceded he was facing financial challenges in his work.
“I did a live recording since it was a bit cheap as opposed to going to the studio.
“This year, I hope to work with Victor Kunonga, who is my inspiration, Jah Prayzah, and other international artists in my projects which are in the pipeline,” he said.
Kudzie Kay, who is currently working on his label, is a primary school music teacher in Warren Park.
He is also a coordinator for the Zimbabwe Musician Union, a board which stands for the rights of musicians.
