‘Kue G’ determined to shine

“As such, it will be a dream come true if one’s dream comes to pass.
“With this in mind, everyone needs to take into consideration that life is what you make it and that means always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself and do not go out looking for a successful personality and duplicate it.”

This is what defines upcoming energetic hip-hop artiste Kudakwashe “Kue G Lil Saint” Imbayarwo.
Hailing from the leafy suburb of Avondale, the 20-year-old star started off as a dancer with a group called “Crullip King”.

He later traded his nimble-footed skills for the microphone by invading the studios in 2007. That year, the silky-voiced rapper did his single track titled “Luchelle Siniorita”, recorded at Dollargettas Studios.
“In the song I was praising a girl, it did well and became the talk of the town especially in the area where I live.

“Those staging parties found it irresistible as they continue to play it,” he said.
He did not end there, in 2008 Kue G did another single with Nitredy Studios titled “Kuda”, a love song.

The rich lyrical content in his music saw him getting a slot to perform at various schools.
“I did a number of acts at girls’ high schools and topping the list was Roosevelt Girls High. This cascaded to other schools like Oriel Girls, Harare Girls High, Heritage and Eaglesvale,” he said.

Music became part of his life as he went a notch up by releasing five mix-tapes. “I did five mix-tapes using international beats including ‘Feel the Noise’, ‘Cake Piece’, ‘Chaos’, ‘Chinzwa Inini’ and ‘School Blazer’.
“This was inspired by the way I live and other topical issues,” said the soft-spoken teen.

Drawing his inspiration from renowned international hip-hop sensation Nas and at home from David Chifunyise, Kue G could not let his setbacks push him off the microphone.
The slender rapper’s stamina saw him rubbing shoulders not only with established artistes at home but international ones as well.

“In May 2011, I performed with a dance group called ‘Legal Dawgs’ at Borrowdale Racecourse, where I curtain raised for a show by visiting three international artistes Ciara, Fat Joe and Lil Kim. At home, on Easter last year, I had a stint with Maskiri, Nox and Trevor Dongo at City Sports Bar among others on the Ndinonyara Invasion Tour,” he said.

The promising star said he is here to take the country’s hip-hop to greater heights. He said that having seen a lot of established rappers performing or coming up with their projects, noted some blunders they make.
Currently, Kue G is working on a new project with one of the country’s finest voices, Trevor Dongo, to be released sometime in May.

Besides, the teen is also trying his hand in the fashion industry.
He has a label by the name, “They hate me and love me for the same reason”.
“This means, I will forever be who I am, the only problem I will have with people is that, who they are, ain’t in the recipe of what I owe,” said Kue G.

To him, sky is the limit for he believes in taking up one idea, make it his life, think of it, dream of it and live on it.
