FRANCE “Mr Message” Moyo, fronting the Lion Stars Music Band, has released his seventh album, continuing his tradition of meaningful music. “Kumakwa Olebhola”, his new album, shares themes of strength and encouragement.
In an interview, the South Africa-based Tsholotsho-born musician, who topped charts with Inotho yegazi, said: “I’m still in the game. We’ve been consistent in releasing music and have built a loyal fan base in South Africa, where we are based.”
Their album launch was held before a packed audience, with plans to perform in Zimbabwe next month.
“We were encouraged when we performed in a venue full to the rafters,” Moyo said.
The title track, Kumakwa Olebhola, delivers a story of encouragement and resilience amidst challenges. Other notable tracks include: uMlilo – reflecting on life’s challenges, Hotspot – a cautionary tale about avoiding temptation and preserving relationships, eTsholotsho – a celebration of his hometown, Ginyilitshe, iNhlonipho, and Ibhasi Lenu – completing the seven-track album.
Unlike his previous albums, this release will be launched in Zimbabwe with a whirlwind tour across Bulawayo, Inyathi, Plumtree, Nyamandlovu, Mbalabala, Filabusi, and more next month. He will share the stage with seasoned campaigner Allen Ndoda, crowd favourite Godolode, and his energetic troupe Eze Energy.
“Those who have seen us on stage know that we mean business. Those who haven’t, surely have to, and we’ll talk after the shows,” he said.
Once a Zimbabwe Music Awards nominee in the Best Sungura category, Moyo and his band continue to hold their ground in the demanding music industry. His music leans more toward Sungura than Rhumba, producing tunes that are impossible to ignore. His previous albums include Mkhuzeni (2012), Inotho yegazi (2014), Umuntu ngumuntu (2016), Bayaphithizela (2018), Bayangunguna (2022), and Ziyabamoshela (2023).
