Construction work is being done by a company called Mutual Construction.

Workers at the site said 80 percent of the construction work had been completed. The mall is situated next to the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

A worker who spoke on condition of anonymity said the mall was almost complete and was set for opening at the end of November.

“The shopping complex is already complete, different companies have been tasked to conduct the wiring and piping process for the installation of water and electricity,” said the worker.

Residents of Kumalo said they were happy about the development taking place in their neighbourhood.

“We are delighted about the construction of the shopping centre, since this will create employment for people residing in the suburb. Residents of Kumalo and surrounding suburbs will no longer have to travel to Ascot Shopping centre and Bulawayo central business district,” said Mr Kingsley Moyo.

Another resident Miss Netsai Toga said the shopping centre would breathe a new lease of life to the low-density suburb.

“We hope the shopping mall will cater for the needs of the youths through providing services like hair salons and boutiques,” she said.
