THE Government has completed the construction of a three-storey hostel that will accommodate female students at Kushinga Phikelela Polytechnic College in Marondera.
The landmark development comes at a time when female students at the college have been facing accommodation challenges.
Construction of the hostel started around 2003 and had stalled due to financial constraints.
However, when the Second Republic came into power, President Mnangagwa prioritised completing all critical but stalled projects and this has seen funds being availed for the completion of the hostel, which awaits commissioning.

Recently, Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo toured the construction site where he applauded Government for the development.
“Kushinga Phikelela College is the only State-owned polytechnic in the whole of our three Mashonaland Provinces, that is Mashonaland East, West and Central,” he said.
“It is the only tertiary institution offering polytechnic studies, which are essential in ensuring that we have people with the right skills to build our nation.
I am impressed with what I have seen here. Most of the work is complete on this building and is now awaiting commissioning. We commend the Second Republic for this development”.
