Police have dispelled social media speculation that the three Kuwadzana children, who were found dead in a car trunk, had missing body parts.

In a statement, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said there is no evidence proving that the three children from Kuwadzana Extension had missing body parts.

The police indicated that a full post-mortem examination will be carried out today in Harare.

The deceased children – Anopaishe (3) and Anenyasha (1) Muzanangu, and Raymond Mukudzeyi Matsiwe (4) – were discovered on Wednesday last week.

“For the record, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has no evidence that one or all of the victims had missing body parts,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

He added that the post-mortem results would be released publicly after consultation with the families.

Commissioner Nyathi urged the public to respect the privacy of the grieving families and allow the police to complete their investigations.

The police also warned against individuals exploiting the tragedy for personal gain.

Commissioner Nyathi named Josephine Mutongi as the leader of a social media campaign soliciting funds for the funeral under false pretences.

Harare female councillors join mourners in Kuwadzana Extension yesterday in Harare.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police warns criminals who are now taking advantage of the Kuwadzana children’s tragedy to mobilise the public to deposit or send money into Ecocash and InnBucks accounts owned or controlled by Josephine Mutongi, under the guise of assistance to the families, children’s missing body parts protest, and the holding of illegal demonstrations/gatherings,” he stated.

He confirmed that the families have disowned Mutongi and condemned her actions on social media.

Commissioner Nyathi further warned that anyone promoting violence or illegal gatherings will face the full force of the law without fear or favour.
