EIGHT armed robbers raided Kuwadzana 2 High School in Harare yesterday morning and got away with a safe with over US$4 700 cash and receipt books.
The criminals broke the door to the bursar’s office where they took the safe believed to contain money that had been paid for school fees and levies.A senior official at the school yesterday confirmed the incident.
“There was a break in here and we are still waiting for the police to arrive and carry out investigations. I cannot comment on the matter as this would be done by our district education officer,” she said.
Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tarirai Dube said they were still investigating the case.
“The incident occurred at around 2.50am after they cut the razor wire to gain entry into the yard. They attacked two security guards using iron bars and tied them with their shoe laces,” she said.
The guards were forced to lie down facing downwards and the robbers broke into the office where they took the safe believed to have US$4 720 cash and the receipt books.
Asst Insp Dube said the figure was an estimation and they were still trying to ascertain the amount stolen.
