The album, which will be released late next month, will be preceded by two promotional singles — Biblical Balling and New Life — which are set for release at the end of this month.
In an interview Kwanfire Asaph said he had decided to go the gospel hip-hop album route, due to his desire to teach the youth in a way that they could easily grasp.
“I decided to release this project, which is a mixture of gospel and hip-hop, because of my desire to talk to the youth in a language and style that they understand. There is little doubt that hip-hop is the genre that is closest to the youth today,” said Kwanfire Asaph.
He said he was not concerned about the negative perception that people have about hip-hop as a genre as he thinks anything can be used as a tool to praise God.
“Hip-hop has a negative image attached to it, but I am not concerned about that. I believe that everything, including music, was created by God so those who believe hip-hop is Satanic are mistaken. Satan has no ability to create anything, but only to change,” said Kwanfire Asaph.
He said he had decided to turn to gospel hip-hop and abandon secular rap when he was born again and turned to God last year. He added that he was working with other hip-hop artistes and also trying to convert them into doing gospel rap.
“I was born again last year and that is when I decided to use my trade to spread the Lord’s message. At the moment I am also working with other hip-hop artistes hoping they will also be turning to the Lord,” said Kwanfire Asaph.
He said the upcoming singles will touch on his desire to showcase to people how he wanted to live a holy life, while at the same time enjoying his life.
“On my upcoming singles I will try to showcase how it is possible for one to live a holy life and still enjoy. I wish to showcase the lifestyle that I am living to people out there who might also want to live their lives according to the teachings of the bible,” said Kwanfire Asaph.
