GEMS’ new vice-captain Claris Kwaramba says she is excited with her new role in local netball and is upbeat they will stand their own when they compete in the upcoming Pent Series and African Championships next month.

The Pent Series is due to take place from November 1 to 5, followed by the African Championships from November 9 to 16.

“I wasn’t expecting the appointment, so I am happy and it shows I am doing something right.

“I have always been in the national team and most of the people that are here I have been working with them and I think there is no pressure and the players are committed,” said Kwaramba.

Kwaramba, who plays wing defence said they are looking forward to the two assignments.

“As a team I think we are almost there. With how people are playing and how they are improving, I think we are going to make it and we are going to give it our best.

“And personally I think I am going to give it my best,” said Kwaramba
