THE 2015 Kwekwe Business Expo kicks off on Thursday under the theme “Prosperity through business linkages and reforms”. Expo chairman, Eric Musesengwi, urged the businesses community to use the three-day platform to increase partnerships. “We chose this theme in light of negative developments in the economy. It’s important for business and other stakeholders to form linkages and put in reforms for the economy to grow,” he said.
Construction magnate, James Ross Goddard, is expected to officially open this year’s expo. Among the big companies expected to take part at the expo are Sable Chemicals, Dendairy, Haggie Rand, Steelmakers, Econet, Telecel, government departments and parastatals. A business conference to be held at a local hotel will precede the expo where Goddard, Steelmakers Zimbabwe general manager, Alexander Johnson and ZNCC Midlands chapter vice chairman, Alva Senderayi, will be among key presenters.
The event will coincide with the Miss Kwekwe Expo to be held on Friday night and a high and primary schools competition on the same day. The Kwekwe expo was launched in 2010 as a platform to showcase the city’s potential in business, agriculture, mining, sport and arts among other sectors.
Over the years the expo has become a premier business exhibition in the Midlands province after the provincial agricultural show, which is traditionally held in Gweru.
