BOWLS’ Champion of Champions, Mike Eaton, will be on the Midlands greens when he takes part in the Kwekwe Invitational Fours tournament which gets underway today.The two-day tournament at Kwekwe Sports Club will see bowlers from across the country competing in the Fours.
Some of the Harare Clubs to participate include Alexandra Sports Club, Highlands Sports Club, Avondale Sports Club and Borrowdale.
Each club will have a team of four bowlers in both the men’s and women’s section.
Eaton feels he is ready for the Kwekwe greens and hopes his club Alexandra Sports Club will do well.
“I am ready for the tournament, it promises to be a competitive fours event and we are not going to take it lightly but to give our best shot.
“We are going to be travelling this afternoon and we are looking forward to the event,” said Eaton. Zimbabwe women’s team captain, Kerry Craven, will not take part in the Kwekwe Invitational tournament.
Craven said she will be busy practising in the capital today at Alexandra Sports Club as part of her preparations for the World Champion of Championship Singles tournament in New Zealand.
“I am not taking part at the Kwekwe Invitational tournament, it is a good event but I am busy with my practice for the World Singles.
“Alexandra Sports Club has faster green, I have some few weeks left before my big tournament and it’s time to get busy on the green,” said Craven.
Craven will represent Zimbabwe in the women’s category and Roy Garden in the men’s section. Heather Singleton will be the team manager in New Zealand.
