POLICE are searching for a Kwekwe man, Tichaona Muguti, who has been missing for more than a week after being attacked by a crocodile while crossing Mbembeswani River in Kwekwe.
Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the incident occurred on January 26.
He said Muguti, an employee of Kingten Mine, was with a colleague, Trust Ngwenya, when the incident occurred.
“Tichaona Muguti was attacked by a crocodile in the Mbembeswani River, Mbizo in Kwekwe on January 26 at about 6 pm,” he said.
Insp Mahoko said it was reported that Muguti was accompanied by Trust Ngwenya (24) of Makaure Business Centre.
“As they were midway crossing the Mbembeswani River, a crocodile emerged and attacked Tichaona Muguti, who was in front and submerged him in the water,” he said.
Insp Mahoko said other men who were nearby were informed but could not do anything.
He said Muguti has not been seen again, and it is suspected that he might have been eaten by crocodiles.
“Searches were instituted by the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority and ZRP Sub-aqua Unit. There are no positive results yet,” he said.
