In a move set to unlock opportunities for Kwekwe Polytechnic College engineering students, the institution has partnered Kwekwe City Council in a move that will see the college’s engineering students installing solar-powered robots in the city.
According to Kwekwe Polytechnic acting principal Engineer Calisto Muzongondi, the move is part of the institution’s way of forming synergies in a bid to conform to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call to form partnerships to foster economic development.
He was addressing captains of industry and delegates during the institution’s 2018 symposium where students showcased their inventions.
Eng Muzongondi said they had since approached the city fathers who welcomed the idea.
“As part of our partnerships, our students will install three solar-powered robots in our city,” he said. “Besides opening up opportunities for our students, the move also goes a long way in solving a longstanding problem faced by our local authority.”
Eng Muzongondi said the institution was open for business and that its doors were open to any kind of partnerships in line with President Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is open for business”mantra.
“We have brilliant ideas, but at times we don’t implement them because we do not have partners to sponsor us,” he said.
