Ladies golf body appoints new coach

THE Zimbabwe Ladies Golf union has appointed professional Claire Minter as the coach for the national team.

Minter, a seasoned player who won almost everything on the local scene as an amateur, will take charge of the team after the appointment by the executive committee.

The committee led by Marita Kahwema announced that Minter will be in charge of the ZLGU coaching staff until 2028.

In a statement, the ZLGU said they are pleased to announce the appointment of Minter as the national coach.

“The ZLGU executive committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Minter as the national coach for the period 2026-28.

“The appointment marks an important step in strengthening the development of women’s golf in the country.

“Minter brings in valuable experience, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to player development, which we believe will greatly benefit our national and provincial programmes.

“On behalf of the ZLGU Executive Committee, we extend our warmest congratulations to Minter on her appointment and wish her every success as she embarks on this new journey.

“We are confident that her leadership and dedication will contribute significantly to the growth and competitiveness of Zimbabwean women’s golf.

“We encourage all provinces to extend their support and cooperation to Claire as she works with players, coaches, and provincial structures across the country to enhance performance and create greater opportunities for our golfers,” they stated.

The ZLGU committee comprises Marita Kahwema as the president, Rodnah Mutasa as the vice president, Stella Feldman as the executive officer and Millicent Banda as the honorary secretary.
